Here’s what you need to know:
1. Getting here – Take I-40 to the Carthage exit, then Highway 53 to Granville. The trail entrance is beside the road, just past Granville, mostly rural two lane roads, fuel and food within 5 minutes.
2. Parking & Trailers – 2 parking lots/trailheads on Holleman Bend Ln, ample pull through and back in gravel parking, mostly sun.
3. Family Friendly – yes
4. Trail Difficulty – beginners on lowland trail, advanced on wilderness trail, barefoot friendly on most of lowland trail, shared with hikers.
5. Trail Info – lowland trail is mostly flat and wide, wilderness trail is steep in places, both have lake views and shade.
6. Amenities – portable restrooms, trash cans, fire rings, lantern poles, highline poles (bring rope), no water (lakeside available).
7. Events & entertainment – organized rides by permit only.
8. Lodging – primitive campground at the end of Holleman Bend Ln.

The Horse Trails are located near the small community of Granville.
Directions:
Take I-40 to the Carthage exit, then Highway 53 to Granville. The trail entrance is beside the road, just past Granville.
Cordell Hull Lake Horse Riding Trails consists of two trails located in Granville, TN.
-The Lowland Trail: 10 miles long and perfect for the beginning rider with flat land near the lake’s edge.
-The Wilderness Trail: 12 miles long and better for the more experienced rider due to it’s steep terrain.
At the head of each trail there are parking areas for loading and unloading of horses. There is also a no charge camping area; however there is no electricity provided. Remember there is no approved drinking water along the trails, so be sure to carry an adequate supply. The trails and designated camping area are open year round, there is no fee to use the trails and hiking is also permitted.
Tips to Remember
1. Bring your own horse – Rental Horses are not available.
2. Don’t run your horse through the campgrounds – For safety’s sake.
3. Pack your litter out – Leave the area clean for the next riders.
4. Bring feed for your horse.
5. Be courteous to hikers (Hiking is also permitted).
6. Wildflowers, Small Wildlife, Rocks and All other features should be protected.
7. Don’t hitch horses to trees – Trees can be damaged by this practice.
8. Don’t be in a hurry – Remember, you can enjoy and observe much more while riding if you take it easy.
9. The lake water is cold; several horses have died from over watering while hot.
