Our horse camp neighbors the Big South Fork National Park & Recreation Area. We have direct access to over 150 miles of horse trails within the BSF.

You will find that it’s very wide from the main entrance to a large cul-de-sac at the back of camp and very easily navigated. The majority of our sites have the convenience and ease of a driver’s side back in. Not all of our campsites will accommodate a 50’ foot trailer, but most will. If you have a large rig, when you make a reservation let us know. We can usually guarantee you a site large enough for your needs.

With plenty of gravel roads adjacent to the camp, we welcome wagons and buggies as well.

The Honey Creek Horse Camp is a campground designed to facilitate RV/Horse trailer camping for horse owners who wish to explore the many miles of equestrian trails in Big South Fork National Park & neighboring areas. Campsites and stalls are daily rentals. The campsites are furnished with full water & electrical hookups. We also have a central dump station.

We stay out of the way of our patrons camping & riding experience as much as possible. Please keep in mind that all of the Double Arch Retreat is private property and the road in the campground is a private road. We plan to expand our services to accommodate a larger variety of campers & riders.

The Honey Creek Horse Camp LLC provides more beautiful scenery in just a half-day’s ride, than you’ll find anywhere. There are numerous views along the trails, including beautiful cliffs and creek crossings. The natural arch formation and Potter’s Cave are only a 10-minute ride/walk from camp. For the die-hards, the Mt. Helen trail connects up to over 150 miles of equestrian trails within the Big South National Park. Within 30-minutes from camp, you can be riding along the beautiful White Oak River. The White Oak runs along the old O&W Railroad bed which served the old mining and timber camps in the late 1800’s – early 1900’s, and has since been turned into part of the park’s equestrian trail system.

There is also plenty to do and see while out of the saddle as well. The Big South Fork National Park is considered one of East Tennessee’s best kept secrets. There are several parts of the Big South Fork National Park just minutes from the campsite.

Kayaking/canoe (bring your own) launches are within a 15-20 minutes drive from the campground, hiking trails within 5-10 minutes (Honey Creek Overlook). Our first priority is to our horse & mule people, but we do welcome regular campers in need of a camping spot to return to at the end of the day’s activities.

The Honey Creek Horse Camp is one of the most easily accessed areas neighboring the Big South Fork National Park, yet remains nestled in a very private location.

The drive in can easily handle the longest of trailers with no stress.

The majority of our sites have the convenience and ease of a driver’s side back in, and a very wide turn around at the end of the camp’s drive.

If not familiar with the drive in let us know and we will send you directions to avoid areas not easily accessible with large trailers. GPS may take you the wrong way!

Most of our trails are sand & sandstone base. Not surprising, to any part of the East Tennessee Mountains, is that it will get a bit rocky the closer to water you get. Horses should be willing to cross streams and rivers, for there are several crossings to make. Barefoot and shod horses alike are welcome in the BSF. There are trails for all skill levels but an intermediate rider should have absolutely no problems negotiating “any” of the trails. A majority of the trails are wide enough to ride 2 abreast.
